Basilone Road, a road that runs through the base, was closed Tuesday and later reopened, Lt. Justin Smith said. Firefighters expect to have the blaze completely controlled later Wednesday.

No one has been hurt in the fire that started during a training exercise Tuesday morning in the Aliso Canyon area, Smith said. No details about the exercise were available.

The fire briefly threatened Camp Margarita, an area southwest of Las Pulgas Road with buildings and barracks, on Tuesday afternoon. Officials said on Wednesday that the fire was no longer threatening any of the facilities or any surrounding communities.

Four Camp Pendleton brush fire trucks and one water tender were fighting the blaze Wednesday morning, Smith said.
