End to heavy boozing for Marines, Navy Sea services roll out strict alcohol detection programs

The alcohol-soaked heritage of the sea services dates to their founding during the Revolutionary War, when the Marine Corps was born at Tun Tavern and Navy sailors were issued “spirit” rations of grog.
